"My paintings revolve around artificial human bodies and their portraits. The way I deal with physis here is a continuation of my interest in robots, technicized or hybrid bodies and mechanical structures such as camouflage warships. I like to treat bodies as abstract hierarchical structures, a map of connected functional parts, extending all over the picture plane and beyond, into the space of the viewer and his/her own body." — Ce Jian
