In his recent work, Manuel Stehli has been focusing on the life-sized depiction of the human figure, both individually and in groups.  While the situations presented appear rather concrete at first glance, Stehli's paintings refuse a specific placement in space and time.  They don't represent events but rather states, experimental arrangements showing one possibility out of many.

  • STEINGRÍMUR GAUTI INGÓLFSSON

  • “I aim to express and examine some basic forms of human emotions.  In a sense you could say that most of my paintings are just series of mistakes until they add up to something that works out aesthetically and emotionally...a lot like life itself.”

    — Steingrímur Gauti Ingólfsson

    Untitled, 2020

Steingrímur Gauti Ingólfsson's visceral abstract language, expressed in acrylic along with a range of textured mediums like paste, chalk, oil pastel and pigment on canvas, is reminiscent of both traditional landscape paintings and Twombly-esque graffiti, with incoherent writings and drawings peeking through layers of thin and thick paint, bringing the almost monochromatic paintings to life.

  • FENG LI

  • Feng Li's photos are all fortuitous encounters with the unlikely cast of reality that's taken center stage in his native city of Chengdu.  He has an eye beyond the norm and a vision that detects the very spectacle of the mundane everyday.  To Feng, girls in mini skirts, old ladies in fake fur, misbehaving kids, wandering homeless and all these characters on the street are in their own way playing different roles in this great fiction of ordinary life.
